Julian McIntosh Architects had the privilege of collaborating with Burberry on a unique and captivating temporary installation as part of their international pop-up campaign. Located in Shanghai, the immersive space titled "World Expo" aimed to transport the public into a mesmerising environment inspired by outdoor landscapes.
The design concept centred around seamlessly integrating digital screens within a distinctive plywood structure to create immersive landscapes. Taking cues from the terrain and mountains, the exterior design of the structure aimed to restore the characteristics of the natural landscape within the cityscape.
The primary objective of the project was to create an interactive experience that harmoniously merged nature and technological exploration. To achieve this, Burberry collaborated with both domestic and international new media artists who contributed their unique visions of nature-themed digital art. Notable works included "Four Time Neighborhood" by Chinese artist Cao Yuxi, "Back to the Wave" by Chinese artist Liu Jiayu, and "Infinite Landscape" by French artist Mathieu Le Sourd.
Together, the immersive installation and the artistic contributions formed an extraordinary fusion of nature-inspired visuals and cutting-edge technology. The space offered visitors a captivating journey where they could engage with the interactive digital artworks, blurring the boundaries between the natural world and the digital realm.
