Situated in Bromley, South London, this project involved the comprehensive reimagining of a 1930s semi-detached residence. Commissioned by a family of four, our task was to transform a constrained, dark, and cellular floor plan into a peaceful, captivating home that prioritized social interaction and a seamless connection to natural light.

The original home presented several architectural challenges, including low ceilings, a lack of cohesive social space, and poor natural light penetration. To overcome these, we proposed a dramatic structural intervention: a unique double-height rear extension. This bold, light-filled volume served as the heart of the home, housing a sun-soaked dining area and social space that completely redefined the family’s daily experience. We utilized advanced 3D modeling throughout the design process to realize this ambitious concept, ensuring every angle and sightline was meticulously considered.

In addition to the social core, the refurbishment included the creation of new bedrooms and a thorough reconfiguration of the existing layout to improve flow and functionality. The design not only successfully met the family's brief for a more welcoming and sociable residence, but it also garnered significant acclaim, ultimately being featured in Series Three of the BBC’s Your Home Made Perfect.

Through a series of thoughtful structural and spatial shifts, we successfully elevated the property, proving that a daring architectural vision can breathe new life into traditional suburban housing.
