Located in the West Midlands, Kiondo Studios operates within the iconic, Grade II-listed Brookes building. As a vital creative incubator, the charity has long served the local area with a mission to transform this historic site into a thriving hub for creative social enterprises dedicated to addressing cultural, social, and environmental challenges.
Julian McIntosh Architects was commissioned to provide a comprehensive feasibility study and project management services for this community interest company. Our role was to address the dual challenge of developing a highly functional workspace while securing the necessary funding to ensure the long-term viability of the facility. The resulting vision established Kiondo Studios as a center where organizations receive expert support in strategy, design, production, and marketing—all with a sharp focus on delivering measurable impact at the neighborhood level.
Through our involvement, we designed a studio and envisioned a space to serve as a vibrant creative center, re-energizing the local community by hosting workshops, events, and development programs, alongside targeted opportunities for skills development and business growth.
Beyond our architectural contribution, we managed the core project delivery, including the selection of the building surveyors, business planning, and legal teams. This project remains a testament to our commitment to creating spaces that foster collaboration, preserve heritage, and generate lasting social value.
