Julian McIntosh Architects had the privilege of leading the transformation of a property on Allen Road, a Victorian-style house in Hackney that had been owned by the same family for generations. Our goal was to convert this multi-storey property into a series of luxury flats, where each family member could own a beautifully designed, high-end residence. The design reflected modern luxury, balancing style, comfort, and functionality, while preserving the heritage of this beloved family home.

The project remained flexible, with the initial plan favoring the creation of individual flats. However, feasibility studies, planning approval, and the family's evolving needs shaped the final outcome. Along with the luxury flats, we also explored the possibility of extending and converting the property into a single, expansive family home.

Throughout the process, we ensured that the development—whether it became a collection of luxury flats or a large family residence—stayed true to the client’s vision and the historical charm of the property, while adhering to planning requirements. JMA delivered a refined and elegant living experience that honored both the family’s legacy and their future aspirations.
